The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program at SOCHI provide the scholar with education in all areas of medical billing and coding methods for both inpatient and outpatient settings. The program’s educational elements are implemented by and in cooperation with American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

The Certified Professional Biller:

This part of the program will provide the most up-to-date information relating to the health insurance business and various compensation methodologies for accurate claim submission.
This section of the course and completion of the CPB® certification exam will prepare you to handle requests within a medical billing job at a physician’s office, within a health clinic and health facility, other health care entity, or as a claims analyst for insurance carriers.
Achievement will prepare the student to sit for the CPB® *certification exam (*required by most employers to work with applications as a Medical Biller)

The Certified Professional Coder:

This part of the program provides the most up-to-date physician-based, outpatient medical coding information relating to assigning digital codes to physician documentation for request submission and income capture.
This part of the course concentrated on coding in physician office environments and elevated the learner to read a medical chart and assign the right procedure codes (CPT®), diagnosis codes (ICD-9), and supply CMS codes (HCPCS) to code for a wide variety of clinical cases and help. (*ICD-10 coding will take area at a later point in this MBC program.)
​Successful completion will prepare the student to sit for the CPC® *certification exam (*required by most employers to work assigning codes for payment on physician documentation.)

The Certified Inpatient Coder:

This part of the program provides the most up-to-date primary medical coding skills for an inpatient facility (hospital) setting. Covers ICD-9-CM Vol. 1-3 (diagnosis codes for inpatient hospital stays).
Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be qualified to sit for certification exams as a CPC, CPB™ and CIC. The preparation, CPB, and CPC exam costs are implemented as part of the program, and the CIC content will be analyzed so that the student may pursue the inpatient coding certification on their own as their career path dictates.
